Homage to clay

Back in Seattle, the NCECA ceramics conference is going on. My gallery, SOIL, along with all the other galleries and museums have ceramics exhibits. So I'm thinking of clay as I travel. Mexico is the place for thinking about clay.

The following images are from the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.

Oaxacan artist made 2500+ figures representing the people who left his pueblo for work in the US.

During the earthquake on 3/20/12, a few fell over. I happened to be standing with these figures when it happened.

This lady is separated at birth from Saya Moriyasu. See work below!
